Accessibility

The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts is committed to providing equal opportunity customer service to patrons with disabilities in a manner that:

  • respects their dignity and independence;
  • integrates as practical through service delivery;
  • offers equal opportunity to our goods and services as other patrons are given.

These standards apply to the provision of goods and services to members of the public. All staff and volunteers who are responsible for delivering services to the public are expected to comply with these policies.

For Town of Oakville's accessibility information, please visit the Town of Oakville website.

Accessibility at the Oakville Centre

Patrons using a wheelchair, walker or who have difficulty with stairs should advise the Box Office (905-815-2021) at the time of ticket purchase. Accessible seating is NOT available online. For the safety of patrons, all accessible seating in the Main Auditorium is located in Row S.

Please note: The Oakville Centre faces accessibility challenges due to its design and age. The theatre does not have an elevator. The Main Auditorium’s 17-row seating area has a steep incline, with steps down to each row.

Accessible features

  • Curb cuts at sidewalks and a ramp to the entrance of the theatre off of Navy and Church Street.
  • Main entrance doors are equipped with electronic openers.
  • Barrier-free counter for the Box Office.
  • Barrier-free washroom on the main level in the lobby.
  • Auditorium offers handrails and a hearing assistance system.

Sennheiser Hearing Assistance

The Oakville Centre offers an assistive hearing headset to patrons in our Main Theatre. This service comes free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. The headset can be requested at the lobby bar upon arrival to the theatre.

Parking

For patrons who attend a show in our Main Auditorium that require accessible parking, you will find one accessible spot in the Navy street parking lot and two in the Church street parking lot. For those attending a show in our Studio Theatre, accessible parking spots on the lower level behind the theatre will best suit your needs.

Visit the Parking page for further access information.

Allergies/multiple chemical sensitivities

The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts encourages a scent-free environment.  Please be considerate of those in the audience who may have allergies and/or multiple chemical sensitivities and refrain from wearing cologne, perfume or other scented products.
