Theatre Etiquette

Ticket holder policies

All ticket sales are final.  All events, programs, artists, times and date may be subject to change.  The ticket holder takes full responsibility for any incidental risks before, during or after the event and if they are not able to attend the event.  All individuals require a ticket to gain entry to ticketed events. Any person whose behavior is inappropriate, violent or vandalizing including verbal/physical assault, harassment, threats/aggression and theft will be refused admission and/or removed from the premise. Theatre management reserves the right to refuse admission and refund the ticket price to any individual.  In accordance with the facility rules, alcohol, illegal drugs, cameras, recording devices, clothing not being worn and bags or containers of any kind, may be excluded from the premises.  Holder consents to a reasonable examination of his/her person and effects to ensure compliance. Price shown includes all taxes and service charges where applicable. Latecomers will not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance. The ticket sold is only valid for the original purchaser and may not be resold, given away or disposed of without written consent from the producer.

Exchanging tickets

Ticket exchanges may only be made for another performance of the same event. Exchanges must be made with the box office at least 48 hours prior to the date shown on the original tickets and are subject to availability. An exchange fee per ticket will be applied.

Scent advisory

The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts encourages a scent-free environment.  Please be considerate of those in the audience who may have allergies and/or multiple chemical sensitivities and refrain from wearing cologne, perfume or other scented products.

Late arrivals

Those who arrive late to a show will be seated at a suitable break in the performance. On-stage performances are shown on lobby monitors for the convenience of those waiting.

Mobile devices

Cameras, video cameras and recording devices are prohibited inside the theatre. In the event of any disturbances, ushers may ask those individuals responsible to leave the auditorium.  Once a performance begins, all mobile devices should be turned off and any other audible distractions should be kept to a minimum.

Food and beverages

Light snacks and an assortment of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available before the performance and at intermission in the lobby.  Please note the bar closes once the performance is in progress. Food and outside containers are not permitted in the theatre. During select performances, all beverages, including alcoholic beverages, will be permitted in the theatre.  The Corporation of the Town of Oakville promotes the use of tap water and the reduction of bottled water use.  For your convenience filtered water is available.  In consideration of other patrons, please refrain from opening candy or gum wrappers during a performance. See the Venue Alcohol Guidelines for Patrons for more details on our beverage service.

Smoking

The Town of Oakville is committed to promoting healthy and active lifestyles.  Smoking is not permitted on the premises or within 9 metres of any entrance.  E-Cigarettes are allowed on stage as required by a play script.

Babes in arms

Every person must have a ticket in order to be admitted to a performance. This policy applies to everyone, including children and infants.  Babes in arms are not permitted into the theatre. We welcome children old enough to enjoy the performance, with each person entering the theatre requiring their own ticket. Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy our Family Series shows.
