La Fille Mal Gardee
March 30 & 31, 2017, 7:30 p.m.
Oakville School of Classical Ballet
Lise, a beautiful young villager, is in love with Colas, a farmer. They want to get married but Lise’s mother, widow Simone, has arranged to marry Lise off to Alain, the dimwitted, umbrella-obsessed son of Thomas, a rich countryman. Their story blurs the boundaries between an idyllic world of light-hearted fantasy and a reality of romantic tangles and complications: it transcends the boundary between the real and fantastic, mystifying the division between a blissful fairytale and the world as we know it.
Oakville Ballet’s version of this story is a must for all to see!
